Can EU Inc. solve Europe’s tech woes?
You’ve probably seen the memes about European innovation a.k.a. plastic bottle caps that a) nobody asked for and b) worsen the UX of drinking from them.
While it’s tragi-comic, the underlying macro is quite distressing.
Europe is suffering from massive brain drain to the US, it has significantly less capital to deploy, and struggles to produce global tech winners.
The continent is in the process of becoming an economic vassal state.
So while Norway decides it wants to jump off a cliff into absolute irrelevancy, I am heartened by the announcement of the EU Inc. initiative, and supported by the likes of Index Ventures, Atomico and even Sequoia Capital.

The initiative aims to standardise investment processes, simplify cross-border operations, and create a unified employee stock options framework for tech companies in the EU to have a better shot at attracting capital and scaling.
