I’m now officially a Clay creator 🎉
And a lot of you have messaged me directly to ask about what the software is, how it works, how it’s different from other prospecting and data enrichment tools for go-to-market sales.
So I thought to share a template I made for others who want to job #huntatscale — believe me when I say, that Clay is so flexible that this is only one of thousands of use cases, but serves as a nice parallel to startups.

What it does:
- Takes a list of VC funds via their LinkedIn URL (my top of funnel ICP for the Nordics)
- Enrich the company data for all VCs listed
- Visits their website to find the portfolio page (using the Claygent AI)
- Scrapes all the portfolio companies and their website URLs
- Returns as two CSV columns
- Converts columns into a JSON file to be passed to another Clay table
At that point, I have a long list of startups with solid investors that I can reach with outbound tools and tactics. I’ll take the company data and search for open jobs, relevant people, and so on. Furthermore, I plan to go back and use my list of VCs to directly contact partners and investors at those funds — to get to know me better!
