I’d like to announce my very public job search … #huntatscale
In the coming weeks, I’m going to be posting a lot more than usual. And I am asking/hoping that you will follow along and engage if so inspired to do so.
Why?
As of this week, I’m looking for long-term, full-time work. In fact, I have been passively looking for work for nearly 1 year without success. And now, as an immigrant and not-rich person, I no longer have the runway to be patient.
My 9 month full time contract with InfoTiles Digital Water is over and I’m in transition. Shoutout to Johnny Alexander Gunneng and Mads Damsgaard-Hansen for the trust and progress we made together — happy to see 100%+ YoY sales velocity growth and significantly shorter time to close on large contracts, among the other wins!
If I don't find a great job in Norway in the next month I may have to leave...
I want to consider out loud why this may be the case, why I've struggled to get offers for jobs I am well qualified and or prepared to step in to. I know one factor is a general misunderstanding about the value of operations in early stage startups in Norway.
As such, I want to demonstrate the value of operational excellence for startups — what does it mean to be able to leverage software and process to achieve scale with fewer resources? How can Startup Norway better scale startups?
To do this, my job hunt is going to be conducted in public — every tool, process, and thought shared. I'm going to try to approach it as a system to build leverage and scale my own job hunt, as if it were a project for a Series A startup.
My goal is to build out a 1 person system for a job hunt, modelled after a go-to-market motion and including both outbound, inbound, analytics, and a review of the tools and assets that enable me to scale a job search as if it were a domain capability (i.e GTM sales, marketing, content) in an early stage startup.
Here are some things I’m going to try to cover:
- - Project management and process covering the entire job hunt
- - Company, founder and job role research (using Clay, Wordware (YC S24))
- - Custom job applicant asset production at scale (using Wordware)
- - Content calendar, distribution and marketing (Notion, LinkedIn, beehiiv)
- - The tools I’m using for traffic analytics and SEO (Koala, Shield, Wope)
- - How I created a directory of great software for startups in 1 day using Notion, Wordware and Super.so (check it out here: https://lnkd.in/gFfk8PqS)
- - How I created (among other things) a custom cover letter generator using Wordware
- - Daily journal, data and reporting, and summary documentation
- - My personal story, goals, and general thoughts
