I think LinkedIn needs more beauty — don’t you?
You might be thinking, wait a smidge Kyle, LinkedIn is for work, not for art!
To which I say, great, this post isn’t for aesthetically disinclined grumpkins.
Everyone else, read on 👨🎨
I want more beauty on my feed, because if I have to live and work on this platform, I want more beauty. Because I need art to be inspired, especially in the middle of my work day. I want to discover artists and music and literature. I want to share the art that has brought me joy and inspiration.
Because I fundamentally do not believe in innovation or progress without art 💅
Therefore, I am (super duper officially lol) announcing Inspiration Saturday #InspoSaturday — use the hashtag, share your own favorites.
Every Saturday, I will share 1 piece of art, music, literature, etc. that has inspired me, recently or in the past, and that I hope will inspire others.
This week, I’d like to share a song I’ve loved since I was in high school:
🎺 Nantes by Beirut
An ethereal album inspired by French culture, Zach Condon (singer songwriter behind the band) grew up with a fascination for city names and the sounds of their pronunciation. Nantes as a song feels like longing, nostalgia, and the passage of time in a place where time otherwise feels like it stands still. When I had yet to ever visit Europe or France, the album lent me the feeling of what it must feel or have felt like: lazy days, paraded wind instruments, sepia tone.

“Well it's been a long time, long time now
Since I've seen you smile
And I'll gamble away my fright
And I'll gamble away my time
And in a year, a year or so
This will slip into the sea
Well, it's been a long time, long time now
Since I've seen you smile”
I hope you liked the song and will join me in bringing more beauty to light! 🌅
