A couple weeks ago I made a bet.
That it would be better to focus on active opportunities than to continue my outbound job hunting.
Turns out that was a bad bet.
None resulted in an offer.
…One has delayed hiring until Q2'25.
…One told me I didn't "passionate enough"
…One more or less ghosted me
…One said they couldn't prioritize the hire
I've wondered to what extent these prospective employers are following along on LinkedIn. I'm getting a lot of love for the transparency around my job hunt.
But am I getting blowback, too?
While many people have reached out in support, others have told me that I’m making my life harder by being vocal on LinkedIn.
The Norwegian culture is conservative, consensus driven, and avoidant. Part of me suspects that my ambitiousness, my outlier status, and the directness of my communications have all worked against me. A double-edged sword, as it were.
As always, I have things cooking, and some rather exciting at that. But to say I'm disappointed in the companies / people behind them for how they've chosen to treat our engagement is a bit of an understatement.
It's been a difficult couple of weeks.
