Week 2 of my job hunt is in the books — but first, an inaugural application bites the dust.
I’m going to begin tracking Applications and Rejections as I begin outbound 🥂 in the midst of prospecting I did shoot off 1 application for a role at a company with a) strong founders, b) an important solution and c) in sustainability.
I was rejected because they were hiring for more “specific candidates…” which seems to have precluded my “yes and” experience. Role requirements or predetermined role fit bias? It was a junior role, no fancy title, first sales hire.
Facebook had Harvard PhD’s on customer service, or something to that effect. Early and capable > set of predetermined, fixed needs. Get the best people you can whatever role, etc. My 6 years in sales wasn’t enough, ok.

Things I’ve stacked 🥞 over the past week:
- Clay flow that scrapes portfolios from VC firms, enriches VC teams to contact partners, enriches portfolio companies for open roles, discover and enrich specific profiles to reach out to → Airtable.
- I spent half of the week in the mountains. Because of the early systems around content, I’ve kept presence!
- Expanded my thoughts around when to stay high touch and why to do so…
Things I plan to stack next week:
- Begin drafting snippets towards Clay ICPs from data sent to a CRM built in Airtable
- Stop to reflect on my own process and plan adjustments to the next 2 weeks
- Enjoy 5 days in San Francisco where I’m thrilled to see old friends and visit SHACK15 and Wordware HQ
- Return to Norway and jump immediately in to Oslo Innovation Week
