Week 7 of my job hunt is in the books 👀
Happy to share I’m in the mid to late stages of multiple opportunities and expect several offers in the coming weeks! Also happy to share that I take it with a grain of salt and I’ll believe the results when I see the terms.
I’ve been absolutely slaughtered on LinkedIn. Engagement is down 50%+ WoW and from an otherwise steady average. It would be easy to write it off and say that was the content I made while I was sick.
The truth is, I’m also getting tired of it. I love to write — I sort of despise writing for my personal account on LinkedIn. This is an important point! For company pages or ghostwriting, I can go all day. For this, a slog.
I’ve received a number of compliments in-person about the content and the initiative and all of that, but it doesn’t really seem to equate into introductions or referrals to the extent that I would have imagined.
So too are my best posts are those least engaged with. This is no surprise, click-bait works for a reason.
People seem to be mostly apathetic or busy with other things. Fun fact, I’ve connected more people in the past few weeks than people have connected me. Kindness taken but not returned. Yet I wouldn’t change a thing.
Some have suggested that I write less so that it’s more easily digestible. I’d prefer not to let the algorithm eat away at my words. In any case, the content is the hook, and it’s led to the roles I’m being considered for.
So not all for nothing, even if engagement is down.

Things I’ve built 🏗️
I’ve been focused on active opportunities, both for full time roles and consulting, so I haven’t built anything new this week. I am however considering creating a mockup for a website for a company, just for fun, or as the hiring equivalent of a dowry. People all around the world still get married for sheep, why can’t I do the same? They don’t have the capacity to do it themselves and I know they’re looking to improve their sales assets...
